Happy 2015!

Hey, everyone! Happy New Year! Can you believe it, 2015 already?? I hope that this past year has been just as good for ya’ll as it has been for me. This year has brought me SO many new adventures and I documented most of them through pictures that I wanna share with ya’ll today! Just a suuuper quick flashback through my year (: I also wanna take a second to sincerely apologize for my long absence towards the end of 2014. I had so many new things going on and I just couldn’t keep up with everything at once. Things have settled down now and I’ve personally made it my new year’s resolution to start blogging on a daily or weekly schedule now, so prepare yourself to see a lot more of me this year! With that being said, since I’ve been away from WordPress for such a long time, we have a lot to catch up on, so let’s get started!

I’m gonna start as far back as my summer vacation! With it being in the dead of winter right now (and my area of Illinois currently being under a winter storm warning for later tonight with 6 inches of snow possible!) summer seems waaay too far away, so this just seemed super appropriate to start with right now. haha I traveled to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina with Cody’s family this summer and had way too much fun! I’m not a big beach person anyway (neither is Cody), but there’s SO many different things to do down there that it’s impossible to be bored. This picture was taken right before we all went banana boating (my first time!) and the guy driving us so kindly mentioned to me that when he was taking people out the day before, he saw a shark not too far away from them. I freaked out the whole time and about died laughing when we were all being thrown around by the waves, but it was so much fun. I’d do it again in a heart beat!

Fast forward a month or so to when Cody and I are officially moved into our new apartment and I finally got a new job! Working at Rue 21 isn’t the greatest, but I couldn’t love my coworkers anymore than I do. They’re amazing people and I’m so blessed to work with a team that meshes together so well. Every day is so much fun coming in to work with them! I’ve been at this company for about 5 months now and I’ll continue to work there through my cosmetology school classes as well. Which brings me to my next point….

The year of 2014 brought me one the greatest gifts of the year: I finally got accepted into the esthetics program at the cosmetology school I wanted to go to! I got accepted a while ago (can you tell by the tank top here and my mention of a winter storm warning earlier? it’s no longer tank top weather! haha), but now there’s not much time until my classes start! Actually, one exact week from today! Next Monday is my orientation (: I couldn’t be more excited about taking this next step in my life and I feel so lucky to have this chance. My decision to drop outta college and pursue this career path was met with a lot of snarky comments and some people being very supportive, but sometimes you just gotta do you. I can’t wait to prove them wrong. I also can’t wait to document my journey through cosmetology school and share everything with ya’ll! Thanks for being so supportive!

Moving into a college town (my boyfriend goes to Illinois State University so we live on campus) 2014 also brought so many new friendships. These are just two of the MANY new people I connected with this past year! I’m such a social person and I cherish all these new friendships that I’ve made. Weekend nights are never boring when you live on a college campus, that’s for sure!

2014 also saw the year that Cody and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary together. While our Facebook pages are blowing up with friends and family members getting engaged, we’re not interested in that right now. We’re practically engaged anyway… we live together, split our bills, you get what I’m sayin’. Besides, Cody needs to save up for that big ol’ rock I want on my ring finger some day! haha I seriously adore this kid and I don’t know what I did to deserve him, but I’m beyond blessed that God gave him to me anway.

As the year started to wind down and Christmas time rolled around (my absolute favorite time of the year!), I guess you could say I went a little overboard while decorating haha Confession: this picture was actually taken in early November. According to some (okay, most) that’s too early to be bringing out Christmas things, but when you’re with someone who is as holiday obsessed as I am, there’s no such thing as too early! Even right now, I’m still refusing to take the decorations down haha I might have a problem!

And on one of the last days of 2014, I got to get in some quality family time with my aunt and uncle, one of my cousins, and my grandparents while spending the day at a gorgeous winery. I have a huuuuge family and we live all over the country, so even though this was only a few family members, I still loved every second of it. Because really, isn’t that what these holiday times and the new year are all about? Just spending time with your loved ones.

So there ya have it, guys! I hope your 2014 was as eventful as mine and I hope your new year will be filled with health, happiness, and new adventures for you to go on. Today is one of the first blank pages of 2015, make sure you write yourself a good book this year!

Love you guys so much and I’m stoked to be seein’ more of ya in 2015!

XOXO always, Megan

It’s been a few months, let’s catch up (:

Hey, everyone! Since it’s been quite a few months, I definitely think it’s time to catch up! How about a life update post? (:

blog

Where do I even start? My gosh. it’s been so long and i don’t even know what to tell ya first! Well, to start off, how was everyone’s summer?? I seriously can’t believe it’s over already, this summer went by so quick. I was super busy though, that’s probably why! In one of my last posts before I left for awhile, I told ya’ll I was movin’ to another city so that kept me occupied for quite awhile. So far, Cody and I have been here for 3 months and we love it! We came at the beginning of summer and all of our friends just moved up here recently a weekend or two ago since classes at Illinois State University started this past week. So with everyone up here all together again, my weekends have definitely been crazy and fun!

Earlier this summer, Cody and I went on vacation to Myrtle Beach and it was the greatest time. Of course I made sure to snap some pictures for ya (: Check ’em out!

It was big group of people fit into a relatively small vacation home for one week, but I had the greatest time with all of them. Myrtle Beach is one of my favorite vacation spots and I’m still recovering from beach separation anxiety even though it’s been a month or so since I’ve been back! haha It rained almost every day, but I had a blast.

Once I got back from vacation, the job hunt started! Since I don’t start cosmetology school until January, I’ve definitely got a ton of free time, so the plan was to be working a lot. I struggled finding a job at first, but eventually something fell through for me and scored an interview and then later a job with Rue 21. It’s not much (and I’m getting a disappointing 7 or 8 hours a week) and I’m definitely not a retail kinda girl, but a job is a job.

Okay, so yellow 100% is NOT my color, but it’s whatever haha These are the back to school shirts we’re all required to wear and the only size they had left for me was a large. Yeah, not cute! I look like a giant banana.

And to top it all off, yesterday was National Dog Day, so I hope you guys wished your fur babies a happy dog day! This is my little lovebutt, Lacie. Love her puppy smile! Happy National Dog Day to my other babies as well: Little Bit, Mikey, Doodle Bug, and Lucy! Love ’em ❤

If ya’ll did anything fun this summer and wrote a post about it, definitely tag me in it down below so I can go check it out! Even if you did nothing too exciting, comment below and talk to me anyway (: I’ve missed you guys! With the Emmy’s and the VMA’s being all less than a week ago, I’ll have some makeup and beauty related posts back up soon, as well as an update on some other things I wanna share with you guys that I didn’t get a chance to mention here. As always, don’t forget to like this post and be sure to give me blog a follow for more from me (: I’d love to hear from ya! Until next time ❤

All my love,

Megan ❤

Vacation Photos!

Morning, Everyone! I hope ya’ll have had a great week! It’s been a while since I’ve talked to you guys since I’ve been livin’ it up in Orlando, Florida for the past week! I did get one night there where I just did a really quick blog for ya about my vacation makeup routine, so if you missed that, be sure to go check it out! Anyway, I just got back from vacation last night, so I’ve been unpacking and it’s probably gonna take me a good two days to get all my laundry done. Not even kidding. haha We hit up all the Disney parks, Universal Studios, and took a few days to chill by the pool. I took, like, a bajillion pictures, so I had to narrow it down (a LOT) to show ya, but check ’em out (:

Photo: i'm not leaving... i refuse to leave tomorrow. being in florida for a week makes me realize just how crappy central illinois really is.

Alright, those were just a few of the pictures that I took along the way… I had the best time! This was my first time going to Disney World (I know, I’m 20, it’s just kinda sad. haha) and I had so much fun. I’m seriously a kid at heart, so I loved seeing all the characters and the parades… so much fun. I’m quite the adrenaline junkie, so most of the roller coasters weren’t up to my kinda speed, but I still enjoyed it! Guess that’s because they’re made for little kids! Oh, and speaking of little kids, I just could not leave without gettin’ myself a Stitch pillow pet… you remember Leelo and Stitch, the Disney show with the little blue alien? I now have him in pillow pet form! One of my favorite purchases, no joke. haha

Hope ya’ll enjoyed some of these pictures from my time spent at the happiest place on earth! I’ll be back with my normal blogs very soon, I’ve got a few makeup reviews I wanna share with you guys and then some skincare products/lines that I wanna talk about! So stay tuned! ❤

XOXO, Megan (:

Hellooo from Florida!

Photo: hate to brag, but uhhh, hellooooooo from FLORIDA! 😎󾌲󾌳󾌸oh, and it was over 80 degrees today... 󾍇

Hi Everyone! I hope ya’ll are doing great, it’s been a few days since I’ve been on last, I’ve been so busy here in Florida on vacay! Today we hit up Epcot and Animal Kingdom… I took tons of pictures of all the animals (like, seriously, an unnecessary amount), so I’ll post some of those for you guys soon (: They are too cute. I’m such an animal lover, it’s a bit crazy. But, since makeup is my thang, I just wanted to pop in here and do a quite makeup blog for you guys! I just wanted to go over really quick about the makeup I’ve been using down here in this Florida heat and humidity. I don’t have tons of time, so unfortunately I won’t be able to upload any pictures of the products, but (almost) all of them are available at drugstores, so they’re affordable, I promise!

Primer: Bare Minerals Oil Control. This is one of the only three products in my vacation makeup routine that aren’t readily available at the drugstore, but as Bare Minerals has become more popular, there’s usually a store at most bigger malls! This primer is the clear gel kind and it sets a perfect, slick proof base for the rest of my makeup.

Foundation: Revlon 24 hours. Trust me, guys, this is perfect for all my oily skin beauties out there. I have tried so many high-end and drugstore and everything in between, and this is one of my faves. I always come back to it! It goes on best over a primer and with using a damp beauty blender or foundation sponge/brush. It gives a great air-brushed look and never feels cakey. Great for heat and humidity!

Concealer: Avon Everlasting. This is one other product that isn’t available at your local Walmart, so you’ll have to order it online or through a friend who sells Avon makeup. This gives great coverage, doesn’t break the bank, and stays put all day! While I love to experiment with my concealers, I always have this one handy. And, although it can’t be bought at Walmart, it’s not expensive! It’s still less than $10 (:

Powder: Since I do have horribly oily skin and I’m mixing it with this Florida heat and humidity (and random rain storms!), I actually use two powders. First, I use the Neutrogena Shine Control to set my makeup, but I don’t use a powder puff to apply it, I use a powder brush instead so I don’t get tons of product on my face. Then, since my Shine Control is in a very light shade, I go over with the Maybelline Fit Me powder to bring some color back in and set everything furthermore.

Setting Spray: For most people, this step is entirely optional, but considering my skin type and current vacation situation, I really can’t afford to skip this step or else my makeup will probably drip off my face… not cute. And, I kinda wanna boast about this product anyway haha I use Ben Nye Final Seal Setting Spray and this is my holy grail makeup product. There is nothing else out there that makes my makeup stay all day like this stuff does. It’s not drugstore, but worth every penny! I plan on doing a complete review of this soon, so I won’t give too much away! But this is great and I can’t leave the house without it on!

So, there ya have it: a really quick over-view on my simple vacation makeup routine. I do wear a little bit of eyeliner and mascara as well, but for time sake, I won’t go over all that right now. Obviously, for going out at night with everyone, I ramp up my makeup a bit and add some lip color, bolder eye makeup, you get the gist! This is just my basic face makeup routine for what I wear while going to all the amusement parks down here. Hope you gained some makeup inspiration from this and I really recommend bringin’ some of these along next time you get a well deserved break to somewhere nice. (:

Have a great week and I’ll talk to you ya’ll soon! XOXO
