Outfit of the Day: New Maxi Skirt Turned Work Appropriate!

Morning, everyone! Last night I went to the mall with a gift card left over from Christmas and one goal in mind: to find a new maxi skirt! I had initially planned on purchasing a black or gray one just so I could match it and wear it with anything, but what I fell in love with defiantly was NOT black! Complete opposite actually….

ImageImageAs you can see, this is 100% not black hahah I saw this on the rack from halfway across the store and knew right then that I needed it. Turns out, it was even on the sale rack, there was one skirt left, and it just happened to be in my size. Pretty sure the universe was just screaming at me to get it haha

Image

Obviously, this is gonna be a very cute skirt for vacations and summer time when paired with a tank top or crop top, but that’s not very work appropriate! So I just needed to class it up and make it a little bit dressier.

Yellow and White Striped Maxi Skirt: Von Maur

Black Cami: Kohl’s

Jean Jacket: Macy’s

Indian Feather Necklace: Forever 21 (maybe? not sure! haha)

So, as ya’ll can see, it didn’t take much to dress it up! I just added a jean jacket and a cute necklace and bada-bing-bada-boom, work appropriate neon yellow maxi skirt! This skirt is actually quite versatile which is surprising because of it’s color, but it’s easy to dress up or down and would work for a lot of different occasions!

Also, I don’t know if ya’ll noticed, but I also dyed my hair and it’s not bleach blonde anymore! It’s a light auburn-ish color. You can’t really tell from these pictures, but it defiantly has some red tint to it and I really like it! I just went to Walmart and picked out some $2.97 hair dye in a box and went at it hahah It turned out really great. It’s not as dark as I wanted it, so I’ll wait a while and then dye it darker, but I’m happy with it. I hope ya’ll like it too! Now if only it could grow 8 inches overnight…..

I hope ya’ll enjoyed this quick post today! Don’t forget to like it and then, if you aren’t already, follow my blog for more Outfit of the Days and beauty related posts like this one (: Thanks so much for hanging out with me for a little bit today and I’ll talk to ya’ll later!

Outfit of the Day: Simple & Comfy!

Hey, everyone! I’ve got a quick Outfit of the Day post for ya today! Nothin’ special (:

ImageWoooowwwww. I didn’t realize how bright and crazy washed out this picture was on my phone! I apologize for that! And that panda beanie baby on the ground back there is my puppy’s, not mine (: Anyway, I kept it basic and super casual today! To me, there’s no better outfit than a basic tank or t-shirt and I love me some worn in, distressed jeans (:

Black Tank Top: Macy’s

Distressed Blue Jeans: Silver (super expensive, but they fit amazingly and have lasted forever!)

Heart Necklace That You Can’t Even See: Zales, from Cody (:

I just finished off this simple look with some comfy black flip flops from Old Navy and to bring a little bit of color and excitement into this, I added a bold tangerine lip color! I don’t believe you can see that in this picture, but trust me, it’s there. haha This is the perfect look for running around, shopping or doing some errands, which is what I did today! This is one of my go-to outfits (:

Gotta Have It or Live Without It: Nyx Natural Eyeshadow Palette

Hey, everyone! Happy Friday! Before I start my post today, I just wanna apologize that I haven’t posted as much this week as I would have liked to! I’ve been sooo busy. My mom just left and is going to be outta town for the weekend, so I’ve been helping her get packed and get things ready for her trip, among other things I had goin’ on this week. I’m hoping this weekend, or into next week at least, that I’ll get back to posting on a more regular basis! Anyway, today I’ve got a Gotta Have It or Live Without It makeup review for ya!

ImageThis is the newest eye shadow palette that I’ve purchase and it’s the Nyx Natural Palette! And I would like to take this moment to point out just how not centered it is in this picture… I had no idea it was that bad when I uploaded it. Embarrassing. hahah Anyway, you can get this eye shadow palette anywhere Nyx cosmetics are sold and I purchased mine at Ulta. Up in the top right corner is actually the price tag which did not come into focus, but I bought mine for $7.49. Kind of a weird price, but I didn’t feel that it was expensive at all since this palette comes with six different shadows.

ImageHere’s what all the shadows look like in the open package! I wish I would have gotten the time to swatch all of these shadows for ya, but I honestly didn’t even think about it. I would have preferred these shadows be a bit more pigmented than they actually are, but you don’t typically get too much color pay off with powder shadows. They’re not sheer by any means and still show up beautifully once you apply them, but for some you have to layer once or twice to get your desired color. Not too big of a deal, but I just wanted to warn any of ya in case that would be a problem.

Anyway, on to the shadow talk! As you can see, these shadows are nice and natural and the last two are perfect for a daytime smokey eye! I bought this palette about two weeks ago and I’ve been wearing some variation of a natural smokey eye almost every day! So this palette has already gotten a lot of wear time with me! I know my iPhone camera kind of distorted the coloring of these shadows, but that first shadow there on the far left is just a snow white color. It makes sucha pretty eyebrow highlight! And when you’re doing an eye look with these shadows, that white color just blends everything together perfectly. Love it. This palette also has the perfect mix of shimmer and more matte looking shadows, so depending on what you’re feeling that day or what look you’re going for, there’s defiantly going to be a shadow in here for ya to use.

Final Verdict? It depends! I wouldn’t say this is a product you need to drop everything and go out and buy right now at this exact second, but I do recommend it! These aren’t the best shadows that I’ve used, but they’re definitely 100% not the worst! For their price, you can’t go wrong. This is the perfect palette for beginners and those who are wanting to ease into learning how to do a smokey eye. Plus, this is going to make a great travel palette for me this summer! It’s small and compact and not expensive, so I can leave my more high-end shadows at home when traveling and bring this instead and still get a really pretty, fun look. If you’re someone who is more into more glammed out and sexy eye looks, I defiantly wouldn’t suggest you get this. I would hate for you to be disappointed. I just really love neutral colors with natural looks, so this was defiantly something I felt I needed to purchase! So, if you’re like me, this is something you’ll like! Basically, I’m really enjoying this palette and I’m happy I bought it!

Thanks so much for reading and be on the look out for my next few posts because I’m hoping to get back on a more daily posting schedule now that things have chilled down a bit! I’ll talk to ya’ll later! Have an awesome weekend!

XOXO, Megan ❤

My Traumatizing Morning & Outfit of the Day!

Good morning, everyone! I’ve got a quick Outfit of the Day post for ya right now, but before I get into that, I have the funniest/scariest story to tell ya’ll. Well, it wasn’t funny earlier, and it actually still makes me feel kinda nauseous, but I’m telling you anyway. haha So, this morning on my way to work, which is about 15 minutes away from my home, I was just havin’ a grand old time. I was blasting some Beyonce, singing at the top of my lungs, and may have even been car dancing a little bit. I was in my car for, like, 10 minutes before I noticed a giant freaking tarantula sitting shot gun in the passenger seat (not really a tarantula, but in all honestly, it was gigantic). He was starring at me the whole time. Just looking at me. Just waiting for his moment to pounce on me like a mountain lion and eat my leg off. I practically climbed outta the window sobbing and screaming and sat on the side of the road bawling my eyes out until some nice lady pulled over and killed it for me. When I got to work, I looked like sucha hot mess that they sent me back home due to “emotional distress.” So now I’m sitting at home, on my couch, in my pajamas, still crying and shaking a little bit. I’m so pathetic. I hope ya’ll still like me after reading this. hahah

Anyway, on to my Outfit of the Day! Which, obviously, I’m no longer in because I couldn’t get my shit together at work and got sent home. haha

Tribal Tank Top: K2 Avenue (my cousin’s online boutique with suuuper cute clothes and accessories, check ’em out here: http://www.k2avenue.com/ )

This was a perfectly cute outfit wasted on a horrible circumstance this morning, I’ll have to wear it again! But thank ya’ll for hanging out with me this morning and I really hope you don’t think I’m psychotic after my story hahah Oh, and don’t forget to check out K2 Avenue’s website in the link I added for ya! Even if you don’t plan on buying anything, check it out anyway and browse or suggest something to one of your friends or family members (: Tons of cute stuff there. I get something pretty much every week! Thanks again for reading, I’ll talk to ya’ll later!

Poolside Makeup Routine!

Hey, everyone! I hope ya’ll had an awesome weekend! I had sucha fun and relaxing one spent outside enjoying the beautiful central Illinois weather swimming all weekend! While I would love to be one of those girls that can just go swimming completely natural without a drop of makeup on, that’s just not possible for me (check out my problem skin post here: https://psmeganelizabeth.wordpress.com/2014/04/17/problem-skin-to-flawless-skin/ ). My skin is so damaged and scarred that I just feel so much more comfortable with a little bit of coverage on when hitting the pool. So my post today is for you ladies who feel the same way I do. Check out my poolside makeup routine below!

Photo: this dude. 😎

Obviously, I had to get a selfie for ya. haha This is my guy, Cody, and I! I wish I would have taken a picture more close up of my swim suit to share with ya’ll. I got it from Target for under $15 (really!) and I almost always get all of my swim suites from there! They have such an awesome selection full of different types of swim suites so everyone is sure to find something they love and feel comfortable in.

Now on to the fun stuff: the makeup! First things first, you need to get yourself a good base, a good foundation. Obviously, for days when you’ll be outside sweating or swimming, a primer is necessary, but there’s so many out there for all different kinds of skin tones and problems, it’s hard for me to recommend just a generic one for everybody. I use Bare Minerals Oil Control primer, but that’s just me. Foundation, on the other hand, I swear by this Revelon ColorStay Whipped Foundation! I talk about this with you guys all the time and I’ll say it again: this stuff is amazing. I’m on my third jar and probably won’t be switching up my foundations any time soon! This stuff is perfect for pool days outside because it does just what it says it will: it stays! This is available at any drugstore for around $11.

I defiantly don’t want any bold lip color if I’m gonna be splashin’ around and sweating all day. The last thing I wanna worry about is fading and smearing lip color. For warm days mixed with chlorine which can be extra drying, you need something that’s going to be moisturizing so I defiantly recommend (and use myself!) these Maybelline Baby Lips! They give you sheer color with tons of moisture. Plus the color and the packaging just screams summer time! You can find these at any drugstore as well as Ulta for under $5.

Obviously, sweat-proofing your makeup is a must! To do that, you need to use a setting powder of some sort. This Rimmel Stay Matte Powder is awesome because it sets everything so beautifully without any of the cakiness that can sometimes come with other powders. This powder never fades, smudges, cakes, or creases and it keeps the shine at bay all day. You can buy this at any drugstore for under $5.

And the best for last? A setting spray! This Ben Nye Final Seal Setting Spray is my holy grail setting spray and it’s one of my holy grail beauty products in general. I do not know how I lived without this magical stuff before and I don’t plan on ever giving it up! I’m not going to get too much into it because I’ve done a whole blog post on it before (https://psmeganelizabeth.wordpress.com/2014/04/04/gotta-have-it-or-live-without-it-ben-nye-final-seal/ ) and I rave about it constantly, but just know that you NEED this in your life. Especially for summer! Even through sweating and swimming, my makeup stayed right in place and never faded, even on my oily skin! You need to check this stuff out. I promise!

I hope ya’ll enjoyed this kinda quick post and I hope it helped some of ya’ll out! If you have any questions about anything I talked about or anything else, just ask me in the comments below! I get all my notifications sent right to my phone so I answer right away (: If you loved this post, don’t forget to like it and then give me a follow if you aren’t already for more posts like this! Thanks so much for hanging out with me today and I’ll talk to ya’ll later!

Outfit Of The Day: Boycotting This Chilly Weather!

Hey, everyone! I’ve got another Outfit of the Day for ya today (: Sorry I haven’t been doing many posts this week that actually have more substance to them… I’ve just been so busy lately that it’s been a struggle to post anything at all. After this week, things at work will quiet down and then I’ll be good to go!

ImageIt was cloudy, rainy, and only reached the mid 50s today in central Illinois, so if you’re reading this and you have nice weather where you are, please send some my way! I’m begging you! The funny thing is, I actually don’t mind this kind of weather at all. It’s just that it’s May 15th… I’m ready to have myself some 85 degree days! So today I boycotted the cold weather by wearing a summery outfit. I froze all day, so I’m an idiot in that sense, but at least I froze in style, right? Take that, Mother Nature!

Teal Shorts: Pacific Sunwear

White Sheer Button-Down Shirt: American Eagle

Blue Mixed Colored Scarf: T.J Maxx

Oxford Flats: Von Maur

Excuse the horrible lighting and the fuzzy picture! And I’m standing pretty awkward too, so ignore that as well. haha Thanks for reading this super quick post and I promise you that I will have a post that actually talks about something important up soon, so definitely be on the lookout for that. I’m thinking I’m gonna do a summer makeup post or a look of the week type thing. I’m TWO followers away from reaching 100, so don’t forget to give me a follow if you’re not already! I hope to be at 100 by Sunday (: Thanks for all your incredible support so far and thanks so much for hanging out with me today, I’ll talk to ya’ll later!

Outfit of the Day!

Hey, everyone! I’ve just got a quick Outfit of the Day post for ya (: Check it out!

Image

High-Low Skirt: American Eagle

Cobalt Blue Zipper Back Tank Top: American Eagle

Shrunken Denim Vest: Macy’s

Gold Embellished Flip Flops : Forever 21

Major mistake I made today wearing this: it was crazy windy outside today! I definitely had myself a little Marilyn Monroe moment in the parking lot of my work… my skirt decided it wanted to fly up and attack my face. Thankfully enough, no one was around and crisis was averted. hahah

Moral of the day? Don’t wear skirts when it’s windy. Girl Code.
