Exciting News & New Hair Change!

Hi, everyone! Hope all your weeks are goin’ good so far. I know it’s probably just a four day week for many of you, it is for me too! I’ve got some fun plans for Friday on the 4th of July and I can’t wait! I also can’t wait to read posts from all you guys to see what ya’ll are gonna be up to on Friday! I’ve got two pieces of exciting news to share with ya’ll today, so let’s get to it!

My first exciting news is that I’m no longer a blonde anymore! I briefly talked about that in my last Outfit of the Day post (check it out here: https://psmeganelizabeth.wordpress.com/2014/06/26/outfit-of-the-day-new-maxi-skirt-turned-work-appropriate/ ), but those pictures were kinda far away and hard to tell, so I took another one for ya! Those of you who are friends with me on Facebook have seen it before, but I decided to upload it here today!

Photo: I'm not a blondie anymore! after being blonde for a couple years, I had a good run, but I'm definitely happy to be back to brunette!I’m not much for taking selfies, but I just had to show my new hair off because I actually really love it! I’m pretty chill when it comes to coloring my hair, I don’t really care how it turns out haha So Cody and I just bought one of those boxed colors from Walmart for, like, $2.97 and it turned out awesome! It’s not as dark as I’d like it to be though, so I’ll have to get a darker one next time. Since my hair was bleach blonde before, I think this brunette color really gives that healthy and shiny look back to it. I’m also wearing a new lip color! It’s a Nyx Butter Lipstick and it’s this gorgeous raspberry color. Love! What do ya’ll think of my hair and this lip color?? Let me know! (:

My other exciting news is that I was nominated for my 5th or 6th award last night! Ahhhh! So insane. I was nominated by the absolutely gorgeous Maddy over at Media Junkie Jungle. This Liebster Award was her very first award (it was my first one too!), so defiantly stop by her page and give her some love! You can find her here: http://mediajunkiejungle.com/2014/07/01/my-very-first-liebster-award/ I’ll link my other award nominees and questions down below, but for now I’m just gonna answer the fun questions Maddy gave her nominees!

1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would that be? Definitely, hands down, without a doubt in a city somewhere! I grew up in Dallas, Texas and miss it horribly. I probably miss it worse now that I in Illinois where there’s corn fields for miles. haha I would also love to live in L.A or New York City. Anywhere with hustle and bustle! Love that.

2. Pick a store where you would shop if you had no spending limit? Man, I’m not sure if I could narrow it down! Without a spending limit, I’d probably hit up Charlotte Russe, Forever 21, American Eagle, Hollister, H&M, Victoria’s Secret/Pink, PacSun, or Sephora! When I become a famous actor/dancer/singer/dolphin trainer (because, really, who doesn’t wanna be a dolphin trainer? come on), I’m taking you all with me! haha

3. Would you rather drink your least your favorite drink or eat your least favorite food for the rest of your life? Defiantly drink my least favorite drink! I could NOT give up pizza. Pizza is my drug. It’s pathetic.

4. Favorite Genre of Music? I was born in the 90s, so of course 90s music was my first love! Backstreet Boys and Nsync anyone? I also really like pop music, alternative, country, hip hop… pretty much anything except classical and we’re good!

5. Fame or Fortune? I’d probably pick fortune.

6. What do you think makes a blog great? Someone who is easy to relate to and funny! No one wants to read a blog written by someone boring and monotone. You’ve gotta make it interesting! I think it’s important to blog about something you’re passionate about, as well. I follow some blog on here that I’m not necessarily into their topics, but they blog about it with so much love that I can’t help but reading! I’m also a visual person, so I love looking at pictures!

7. What is your biggest goal right now? With my current work contract coming to an end in the middle of this month, I’ve been job hunting like crazy, so it’s really important to me right now that I’m able to find another job pretty quickly! Beyond that, it’s my goal to start my cosmetology school classes, finish with great grades and experience, pass my state boards, and then score a job that I’m absolutely in love with.

8. If you could go to any time period which would it be and why? I’d love to go back and visit the dinosaurs! haha A little dangerous? Maybe. But, seriously, who wouldn’t love to pet a T-Rex?

9. How would you explain your blog in 10 words or less? I hope that people find my blog to be fun and interesting! I also try to make it informative, but mostly, I just want ya’ll to have fun with me! I want to build a relationship with people and I feel like I’ve done that here! (That, 100% was NOT less than 10 words. My bad. haha)

10. What is your favorite holiday? Christmas! I’m sucha freak about Christmas! I pretty much wait all year for the month of December to roll around. If people wouldn’t kill me, I’d have Christmas decorations up all year around. haha

11. What is your favorite thing to write about? Anything beauty related! I also love giving you guys Life Updates to share with ya’ll a little bit about what’s goin’ on with me because I really want you to know the real me. I also love the outpouring of support that you can receive from your followers on here. I love ya’ll (:

Those were fun questions, Maddy! Thank you! Now that they’ve all been answered, I’ll link the URLs below in case any of ya’ll wanna go back and check out other questions or see my other nominees (:

There’s a few other ones that I didn’t link above, but if you’re interested, just hop on over to my page and type in “award” in the search bar and they’ll all pop up!

A biiiiiig shout out again to the wonderful Miss Maddy for thinking of me! And a huge congratulations to her for being nominated for her first award! That’s so exciting and I’m so happy for you. And thanks to ya’ll for reading this! If I don’t get a chance to talk to any of ya before Friday, enjoy your 4th of July and have awesome weekends!

XOXO, Megan ❤

Life Update, Outfit of the Day, & Look of the Day!

Hey, everyone! After a week or so, I’m finally back! I have some stuff to update ya’ll about today, but first I wanna say something before we get into all of that. I just wanna say thank you to those of you who were so sweet, supportive, and patient last week after I had to put my dog down. It would have been a really tough thing to do anyway, and it just made it harder knowing that I practically grew up with her, so I was really distraught over the whole situation. Even though I haven’t posted anything for a few days, I did get on and check my blog updates and it made me feel so loved seeing all of the kind words you had to say! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: WordPress is the most supportive online community I’ve ever been a part of and I absolutely love that! I couldn’t have gotten through it without your support, so I defiantly just needed to take some time to tell ya’ll how much I appreciated it (:

Anyway, on to everything else that’s been goin’ on! I’ve had the craziest weekend I’ve had in quite some time… I finally got all moved in to my new apartment! We started moving in on Friday and continued to move and clean until Sunday night and now Cody and I are finally settled into our new place! I haven’t taken any pictures yet, but I promise I will! I’m back home from today until Saturday night for my mom’s birthday week, so I’m thinkin’ Sunday once I get back will be a good day to get my apartment post up, be on the lookout for that (:

ImageAmong all of the craziness, I did manage to get one picture! Even though it’s dark and blurry haha This picture was taken in our little living room on our couch. The apartment is teeny tiny, but it’s newly renovated, has gorgeous wood floors, new carpet, and new cabinets. It might not be much to most other people, but it’s ours and we love it. We already feel so at home in it. Can’t wait to share the rest with ya! If I have time, I’ve even been thinking about doing a video post for ya instead! I think that’d probably be the best way anyway to show ya’ll our new place!

Now, with all the new apartment talk outta the way, I have an Outfit of the Day for ya! I haven’t posted anything for about a week, let alone anything actually along the lines of fashion and beauty, so today is a good day to start that up again!

White Skinny Jeans: Hollister

Jean Jacket: Macy’s

Black Tank Top: Kohl’s (it’s actually a workout tank top!)

Woven Brown Belt: Macy’s

Gold Studded Sandals: Forever 21

I also have on a really gorgeous necklace (I shoulda taken a close up for ya) that mom got me as a going away present. It has two white sapphires in the shape of hearts and around it and it says “A mother’s love has no end.” I cried when she gave it to me haha It’s so pretty, I’ve worn it every day since I got it! I believe she got it at Kohl’s at the jewelry counter. And also, just a side note, if you like those jeans and are planning on getting any from Hollister, make sure you go waaaaay up in size! I’m a size 2 or 3 and these jeans are a size 7 or 8! Big difference!

I also tried a little somethin’ new out today, check it out!

I’ve always, always, always been a fan of colorful eyeliner, so I just recently purchased this really gorgeous one! This is the Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in Rocky Mountain Green, it’s this really gorgeous emerald color that has some light shimmer to it. It reflects light beautifully. I also bought a really pretty pale blue color, but I wanted to give this color a go first because I thought it would work best with my eye color. This is the first time I’ve used this product, so I’m not sure if there’s gonna be any smudging or fading that’s gonna go on, so I brought the pencil with me to work for touch-ups throughout the day if need be. I’ll have a product review up on these as soon as I test them out enough (: These eye pencils are available wherever Nyx products are sold and I purchased mine at Ulta for under $5 each! I also finally jumped ship and joined the so many ladies that are tryin’ out the L’Oreal TrueMatch Foundation! Be on the lookout for that makeup review to pop up here soon as well (:

So this post was a little crazy, I had so many different topics to over with ya’ll since it’s been so long! I really hope you enjoyed this post. Comment below with any apartment decor suggestions, comments about the Nyx Jumbo Pencil if you’ve used one yourself, questions, or just to say hey! Don’t forget to like this post and follow my blog for more beauty/fashion/lifestyle related posts like this one (: I’ve also been nominated for another award, so I’ll have that post up here soon! As always, thanks for hanging out with me for a little bit today and it’s so good to be back! I’ve missed you guys!

XOXO, Megan ❤

Gotta Have It or Live Without It: Nyx Natural Eyeshadow Palette

Hey, everyone! Happy Friday! Before I start my post today, I just wanna apologize that I haven’t posted as much this week as I would have liked to! I’ve been sooo busy. My mom just left and is going to be outta town for the weekend, so I’ve been helping her get packed and get things ready for her trip, among other things I had goin’ on this week. I’m hoping this weekend, or into next week at least, that I’ll get back to posting on a more regular basis! Anyway, today I’ve got a Gotta Have It or Live Without It makeup review for ya!

ImageThis is the newest eye shadow palette that I’ve purchase and it’s the Nyx Natural Palette! And I would like to take this moment to point out just how not centered it is in this picture… I had no idea it was that bad when I uploaded it. Embarrassing. hahah Anyway, you can get this eye shadow palette anywhere Nyx cosmetics are sold and I purchased mine at Ulta. Up in the top right corner is actually the price tag which did not come into focus, but I bought mine for $7.49. Kind of a weird price, but I didn’t feel that it was expensive at all since this palette comes with six different shadows.

ImageHere’s what all the shadows look like in the open package! I wish I would have gotten the time to swatch all of these shadows for ya, but I honestly didn’t even think about it. I would have preferred these shadows be a bit more pigmented than they actually are, but you don’t typically get too much color pay off with powder shadows. They’re not sheer by any means and still show up beautifully once you apply them, but for some you have to layer once or twice to get your desired color. Not too big of a deal, but I just wanted to warn any of ya in case that would be a problem.

Anyway, on to the shadow talk! As you can see, these shadows are nice and natural and the last two are perfect for a daytime smokey eye! I bought this palette about two weeks ago and I’ve been wearing some variation of a natural smokey eye almost every day! So this palette has already gotten a lot of wear time with me! I know my iPhone camera kind of distorted the coloring of these shadows, but that first shadow there on the far left is just a snow white color. It makes sucha pretty eyebrow highlight! And when you’re doing an eye look with these shadows, that white color just blends everything together perfectly. Love it. This palette also has the perfect mix of shimmer and more matte looking shadows, so depending on what you’re feeling that day or what look you’re going for, there’s defiantly going to be a shadow in here for ya to use.

Final Verdict? It depends! I wouldn’t say this is a product you need to drop everything and go out and buy right now at this exact second, but I do recommend it! These aren’t the best shadows that I’ve used, but they’re definitely 100% not the worst! For their price, you can’t go wrong. This is the perfect palette for beginners and those who are wanting to ease into learning how to do a smokey eye. Plus, this is going to make a great travel palette for me this summer! It’s small and compact and not expensive, so I can leave my more high-end shadows at home when traveling and bring this instead and still get a really pretty, fun look. If you’re someone who is more into more glammed out and sexy eye looks, I defiantly wouldn’t suggest you get this. I would hate for you to be disappointed. I just really love neutral colors with natural looks, so this was defiantly something I felt I needed to purchase! So, if you’re like me, this is something you’ll like! Basically, I’m really enjoying this palette and I’m happy I bought it!

Thanks so much for reading and be on the look out for my next few posts because I’m hoping to get back on a more daily posting schedule now that things have chilled down a bit! I’ll talk to ya’ll later! Have an awesome weekend!

XOXO, Megan ❤

May Favorites! (:

Happy Friday, everyone! It’s officially gettin’ down to the last couple days in May, so ya’ll know what that means… it’s time for another monthly favorites blog post! Before I get into everything, I just wanna say something really quick. When I do my monthly favorites (actually when I do pretty much all of my blog posts) I like to use drugstore or relatively available and non-expensive products. I do this because I wanna include everyone, no matter their money situation. A few years ago when money wasn’t easy to come by for me, I would watch makeup tutorials on YouTube and I would always get so disappointed because they never used any drugstore products, making all of the looks they created difficult for me to figure out. I never want anyone else to feel like that, so I just prefer to use products that I love, can be found almost anywhere, and I know ya’ll will love too! Of course, if you ever have any questions about any high end products, don’t be afraid to ask! I just won’t typically do a blog post including them. So, with that outta the way, let’s get to my May favorites!

This Olay moisturizer has been a staple of mine for years! I’m actually not for sure if I’ve included this in a previous monthly favorites before, but I love it, so why not include it again, right? haha The thing that’s most important to me in a moisturizer is the SPF factor. You should be wearing SPF everyday, but it’s especially vital during summer. I don’t have sensitive skin, but I have acne-prone skin so I can’t usually wear sunscreen on my face because it breaks me out. So I have to use a moisturizer with SPF in year round. I first tried this out in high school and haven’t switched since! I’ve tried others, but I always, always, always come back to my good ol’ Olay. It’s available at any drugstore as well as Ulta and it’s for around $5 (:

While we’re on the topic of moisturizing, let’s talk about Maybelline Baby Lips! I’m obsessed with this line. Baby Lips and EOS lip balm are my favorites and I especially love this line because these Baby Lips lip balms have some sheer color to them that are just gorgeous for the summer months! This pretty pink color is Pink Punch and it tastes and smells like strawberry lemonade. Uhmm, yes please! If you guys haven’t tried Baby Lips before, I really have no idea what you’re waiting for! They’re widely available, cheap, and really keep your lips soft! Plus the adorable packaging is to die for.

Ya know what I just realized? I believe I’ve included these Nyx Butter Glosses before in another one of my monthly favorites. Apparently, I’m just full of repeats today. haha But this color is one that I just recently purchased, so I know I haven’t done this specific one yet. This is a gorgeous berry colored gloss called Strawberry Parfait.

Here’s what Strawberry Parfait looks like on! I tried to pucker my lips a little bit so you could see it better, but I ended up looking like I had a partial face paralysis hahah Excuse my extreme lack of photogenic skills. Anyway, what I love most about this Nyx Butter Gloss line is that these glosses never dry my lips out and they never feel heavy. They’re just light and give you the perfect amount of shine and color! These can be found wherever Nyx products (I always get mine at Ulta) and they’re for under $5.

I don’t know what it is with me and my little mascara obsession, but I go through mascara like it’s no one’s business. Once my mascara even dries up just the slightest little bit, I throw it away just so I can go try a new one. haha I can honestly say that I’ve never once bought the same mascara twice. I’ve never found one that just blows me away (if ya’ll have any recommendations, let me know!). This is the Maybelline Pumped Up Colossal Mascara in black and, while it doesn’t blow me away, I have enjoyed using it. It takes some time to get used it because you can’t just go in like you would with other mascaras. This clumps and gets that spidery look really easily, so you need to go in with a really light hand and build gently from there. I don’t remember how much this one costs (I usually just grab drugstore mascaras without even looking at the cost haha) but I got mine at Walmart and I can assure you it was under $5. Would I ever purchase this again? Nahh, probably not. But I included it in my May favorites because it’s been my favorite mascara to use this month!

You guys, I am sucha freak when it comes to Biore products. I know I am and I know it’s bad haha I’m pretty sure I include another one of their washes and scrubs every single month. I even did a whole post about Biore a few months ago, so check that out here: https://psmeganelizabeth.wordpress.com/2014/04/15/my-tried-and-true-skincare-line/. This is their new facial cleanser that I picked up at the beginning of this month and I’ve been absolutely loving ever since! This is their Charcoal Pore Unclogging Face Cleanser and I believe it was a little over $5 available at any drugstore. In this picture, I pumped some out on my hand for ya so you could see that it really is charcoal! (Charcoal is proven to be a really amazing skin cleanser.) One of the things I love most about this is that you can use this all over your body, not just your face. If body breakouts are a problem for you, this is a wash you need to try out! Especially during the summer time when you have extra sweat, oil, dirt, and chlorine stickin’ to ya. After you use this, you’ll instantly notice a difference in your skin. You’ll be able to tell how deep down it cleaned and you’ll be left with a really fresh, clean feeling. The only thing is make sure that you follow up with a moisturizer because this can sometimes tighten your skin.

I hate the Kardashians. I’ll be the first to happily admit that. I think they’re annoying, spoiled, selfish people and I genuinely can’t stand any of them. But Kim’s wedding dress? I’m pretty sure we can all agree how elegant, classy, and gorgeous it is on her. I was 100% expecting her to come prancing down that isle in a tight, low-cut dress with a slit up to her lady muffin in 8 inch heels. Obviously, I was pleasantly surprised! I still hate the girl, but her dress deserved a spot on my May favorites list!

I hope ya’ll enjoyed this monthly favorites post! Remember, if ya’ll have any mascara recommendations (or any other products you think I should try out!), please let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear what you’re favorites are. As always, don’t forget to like this post and then give me a follow if you aren’t already for more beauty and lifestyle related posts like this one (: Thanks so much for hangin’ out with me for a little bit today and I’ll talk to ya’ll later! Enjoy your weekends!

XOXO, Megan ❤

Gotta Have It or Live Without It: Nyx Matte Lipstick

Hi, everyone! I’ve got a Gotta Have It or Live Without makeup review for ya tonight! It’s over the Nyx Matte Lipstick line (:

When summer finally rolls around, that’s when bright, colorful makeup comes into play! I especially love experimenting with bold lip colors during the warmer months. But between the summer heat and humidity, drinking and eating, talking and laughing, swimming and sweating… it’s almost impossible to find a lip color that last through all of that. I had pretty much given up all hope on finding a lipstick that lasts and settled on just wearing basic lip balm all summer. Don’t get me wrong, lip balm is fantastic and I still do wear it everyday when I’m doing a lot less makeup. But for parties, nights out, and special events, I still need myself a great lip color that won’t fade, smear, or smudge! That’s where this Nyx Matte Lipstick line comes in (:

I had just recently used this lipstick line for the first time only about two weeks ago. I wore this gorgeous deep red color to my cousin’s wedding. I applied it before I left and tucked it away in my clutch ready to constantly reapply like I’d done with every other lipstick in the history of ever. But through pictures, eating dinner, chowing down on dessert, drinking, talking, and laughing, it never faded. That’s absolutely incredible, so let me say that again in case you didn’t quite catch that… THIS LIPSTICK NEVER FADED. Like, never. It never faded. Through out the whoooole night, it still looked as perfect as when I first put it on! Can we all just take a second and fan-girl together? I only reapplied ONCE the whole entire day. ONCE. JUST ONCE! And that time wasn’t really even that bad, I just wanted a little bit more color intensity for pictures. Other than that, I was free to forget about my lips for the rest of the night because I had no doubt it wouldn’t fail me! It was pretty magical. haha

Nyx Matte Lipsticks come in a cute, little black tube like you see above with a clear part so you can tell your colors apart. The thing I love most about this lipstick is that gorgeous matte finish it has. I love shine just like the next girl and the fun thing about this line is that, with the matte finish, you can build your lip gloss on top if you so please. But I didn’t use any gloss at the wedding and still got tons of compliments.

Final verdict? GOTTA HAVE IT! This isn’t even a “ehhh. it’s alright.” This is a 100%, head over heels in love, I completely, totally, and wholeheartedly NEED this product in my life! I have no idea how I survived without this being in my beauty routine before. haha Nyx Matte Lipsticks are available wherever Nyx products are sold and I picked mine up at Ulta for less than $5! I’ve only used it a few times, so maybe it’s too soon to claim this, but I’m pretty positive I’ve found my holy grail lipstick. Please, trust me on this, you NEED this in your life! Promise!

XOXO, Megan ❤

Ulta Products Review!

Hey, Everyone! If you read my shopping haul post that I did just a few days ago, then you know that I recently bought some fun, little things at Ulta. So, today, I wanted to give you a more in-depth post about the products I bought, including plenty of pictures! Let’s get to it!

This is actually the same picture that I uploaded to my shopping haul post, but since I already tore off most of the packaging, I just wanted to include this one more time. These are the just the 6 little goodies I picked up at Ulta on Saturday. On the right is a Studio Basics beauty sponge and my plan for that is to actually go buy 4 or 5 more beauty sponges (there were a billion at Ulta!), gather them up, use them, and then give you guys a whole blog post just dedicated to that. I have a Beauty Blender from Sephora, but if any of you have one as well, you know they’re not cheap! Finding a dupe for that would be awesome, so I figured doing a post like that would be fun for all of us to kinda figure out together what’s good and what’s not! Also, if you haven’t checked out my Real Techniques Brush review, that’s what I did yesterday (:

This is the Maybelline Fit Me blush in Medium Coral. This is a really gorgeous, dark peachy color with just a little bit of shimmer in it. But, as you can see, it’s quite pigmented! More than I was expecting! The swatch on my hand is actually just one brush stroke… insane, I know. I’ve been using Fit Me blushes for quite a while now and I’ve never seen another one have the kind of color payoff that this one does, so a little will go a long way with this! I’ve only used this twice so far, but I think this will actually make a really pretty bronzer  for contouring my cheeks, so I’m excited to give that a go. This color would look beautiful on you stunning girls with a darker skin complexion, especially with the added shimmer in there. But if you have more of a porcelain complexion, this color might have the tendency to look more muddy (kind of dirty) on you gorgeous girls, so be careful with that!

This is the Nyx Butter Gloss in Apple Strudel and, ladies, I’m obsessed with the Butter Gloss line! And I’m not a big gloss fanatic, so it takes a lot to impress me! This goes on so smooth (like butter, imagine that) and the staying power is really great. I’m not constantly reapplying it like I am with most other glosses. Plus, the color is gorgeous and looks beautiful over matching lipstick. I also happen to think that the packaging is kinda cute and I’m a sucker for cute packaging! If you don’t have any Nyx Butter Glosses yet, I 100% recommend them! They’ve got a great color selection, plus they’re under $5 (:

This is also another Nyx product. This is in their Matte Lipstick line and it’s in the color Eden. I haven’t actually tried this lipstick out on my lips yet because I feel this is something just a little more fancy, but I’m already crazy about this color! It’s a gorgeous deep red, which is actually a color that I don’t own yet! Most of my reds are bright, instead of deep and darker. This color is something that’s gonna look amazing on every skin tone, so give it a try next time you’re in a makeup isle! Cody is actually the one who picked this out for me too, so girls, it’s already guy proven (;

And, last but not least, we’ve got some falsies! These are the Ardell lashes in Glamour. I’m not a fan of Ardell lashes at all, but I thought I’d give these a go. I find that this brand tends to fall apart suuuuper quickly and you can actually see in the bottom picture that the lash bent out of shape just by me taking it out of the package. Not impressive. I only managed to try on one lash before I wanted to take it off because I hate them so much! These Glamour lashes looked so horribly fake on me that I didn’t even bother putting them both on. I wish I would have taken a picture for you, but honestly, I just wanted this caterpillar off my face, because that’s what it looked like. So, basically as soon as I’m done writing this blog post, those babies are goin’ in the trash! Luckily, these weren’t expensive at all (I believe less than $5), so I’m not really missing out. When it comes to falsies, I always recommend getting a more high-end brand from a trusted company. That way you know they’ll work and you’re getting your money’s worth.

So, that’s it! I hope you guys enjoyed this post and I hope you’ll go out and get some of these products to try out yourself! Not those Ardell lashes though. Don’t get those. haha Thank you so much for hanging out with me today and I’ll talk to you guys tomorrow!

XOXO, Megan (:
