Exciting News & New Hair Change!

Hi, everyone! Hope all your weeks are goin’ good so far. I know it’s probably just a four day week for many of you, it is for me too! I’ve got some fun plans for Friday on the 4th of July and I can’t wait! I also can’t wait to read posts from all you guys to see what ya’ll are gonna be up to on Friday! I’ve got two pieces of exciting news to share with ya’ll today, so let’s get to it!

My first exciting news is that I’m no longer a blonde anymore! I briefly talked about that in my last Outfit of the Day post (check it out here: https://psmeganelizabeth.wordpress.com/2014/06/26/outfit-of-the-day-new-maxi-skirt-turned-work-appropriate/ ), but those pictures were kinda far away and hard to tell, so I took another one for ya! Those of you who are friends with me on Facebook have seen it before, but I decided to upload it here today!

Photo: I'm not a blondie anymore! after being blonde for a couple years, I had a good run, but I'm definitely happy to be back to brunette!I’m not much for taking selfies, but I just had to show my new hair off because I actually really love it! I’m pretty chill when it comes to coloring my hair, I don’t really care how it turns out haha So Cody and I just bought one of those boxed colors from Walmart for, like, $2.97 and it turned out awesome! It’s not as dark as I’d like it to be though, so I’ll have to get a darker one next time. Since my hair was bleach blonde before, I think this brunette color really gives that healthy and shiny look back to it. I’m also wearing a new lip color! It’s a Nyx Butter Lipstick and it’s this gorgeous raspberry color. Love! What do ya’ll think of my hair and this lip color?? Let me know! (:

My other exciting news is that I was nominated for my 5th or 6th award last night! Ahhhh! So insane. I was nominated by the absolutely gorgeous Maddy over at Media Junkie Jungle. This Liebster Award was her very first award (it was my first one too!), so defiantly stop by her page and give her some love! You can find her here: http://mediajunkiejungle.com/2014/07/01/my-very-first-liebster-award/ I’ll link my other award nominees and questions down below, but for now I’m just gonna answer the fun questions Maddy gave her nominees!

1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would that be? Definitely, hands down, without a doubt in a city somewhere! I grew up in Dallas, Texas and miss it horribly. I probably miss it worse now that I in Illinois where there’s corn fields for miles. haha I would also love to live in L.A or New York City. Anywhere with hustle and bustle! Love that.

2. Pick a store where you would shop if you had no spending limit? Man, I’m not sure if I could narrow it down! Without a spending limit, I’d probably hit up Charlotte Russe, Forever 21, American Eagle, Hollister, H&M, Victoria’s Secret/Pink, PacSun, or Sephora! When I become a famous actor/dancer/singer/dolphin trainer (because, really, who doesn’t wanna be a dolphin trainer? come on), I’m taking you all with me! haha

3. Would you rather drink your least your favorite drink or eat your least favorite food for the rest of your life? Defiantly drink my least favorite drink! I could NOT give up pizza. Pizza is my drug. It’s pathetic.

4. Favorite Genre of Music? I was born in the 90s, so of course 90s music was my first love! Backstreet Boys and Nsync anyone? I also really like pop music, alternative, country, hip hop… pretty much anything except classical and we’re good!

5. Fame or Fortune? I’d probably pick fortune.

6. What do you think makes a blog great? Someone who is easy to relate to and funny! No one wants to read a blog written by someone boring and monotone. You’ve gotta make it interesting! I think it’s important to blog about something you’re passionate about, as well. I follow some blog on here that I’m not necessarily into their topics, but they blog about it with so much love that I can’t help but reading! I’m also a visual person, so I love looking at pictures!

7. What is your biggest goal right now? With my current work contract coming to an end in the middle of this month, I’ve been job hunting like crazy, so it’s really important to me right now that I’m able to find another job pretty quickly! Beyond that, it’s my goal to start my cosmetology school classes, finish with great grades and experience, pass my state boards, and then score a job that I’m absolutely in love with.

8. If you could go to any time period which would it be and why? I’d love to go back and visit the dinosaurs! haha A little dangerous? Maybe. But, seriously, who wouldn’t love to pet a T-Rex?

9. How would you explain your blog in 10 words or less? I hope that people find my blog to be fun and interesting! I also try to make it informative, but mostly, I just want ya’ll to have fun with me! I want to build a relationship with people and I feel like I’ve done that here! (That, 100% was NOT less than 10 words. My bad. haha)

10. What is your favorite holiday? Christmas! I’m sucha freak about Christmas! I pretty much wait all year for the month of December to roll around. If people wouldn’t kill me, I’d have Christmas decorations up all year around. haha

11. What is your favorite thing to write about? Anything beauty related! I also love giving you guys Life Updates to share with ya’ll a little bit about what’s goin’ on with me because I really want you to know the real me. I also love the outpouring of support that you can receive from your followers on here. I love ya’ll (:

Those were fun questions, Maddy! Thank you! Now that they’ve all been answered, I’ll link the URLs below in case any of ya’ll wanna go back and check out other questions or see my other nominees (:

There’s a few other ones that I didn’t link above, but if you’re interested, just hop on over to my page and type in “award” in the search bar and they’ll all pop up!

A biiiiiig shout out again to the wonderful Miss Maddy for thinking of me! And a huge congratulations to her for being nominated for her first award! That’s so exciting and I’m so happy for you. And thanks to ya’ll for reading this! If I don’t get a chance to talk to any of ya before Friday, enjoy your 4th of July and have awesome weekends!

XOXO, Megan ❤

Hair Chalking Tutorial!

Good morning, everyone! I hope ya’ll had an awesome weekend. If you read my Sunday Chit Chat post from last night (https://psmeganelizabeth.wordpress.com/), I had talked about some exciting things I was gonna blog about for ya this week. Welp, today is one of them: hair chalking tutorial! For the first time ever last night, I finally got around to using hair chalk! This is something that I’d been wanting to do for quite some time and I just now made room for it. I took lots of pictures along the way, so if this is something you’re interested in doing yourself, defiantly keep reading!

This is the hair chalk that I used. I don’t know how much this Chi brand hair chalk sells for because I actually got this included in the package when I bought my new straightener recently. But, when it comes down to it, I know that you actually don’t even need to use hair chalk, you can just use normal chalk (or so I’ve heard from Pinterest). I wish I woulda swatched this on my wrist, so you could see just how pigmented this chalk is, but trust me, what you see right there is what you get! It was so ridiculously pigmented. When you get this product on your hair, it’s literally this exact same color. Crazy color payoff!

First things first: always start with wet hair! You cannot do this on dry hair and expect good results. I just did my hair chalking after I got out of the shower, so my whole head was wet, but you can also just spritz the sections that you wish the color with a spray bottle. Bottom line: just make sure your hair is wet!

The hair chalking process itself is actually not too difficult. I know that there’s a hair chalking device out there that looks just like a mini straightener and you just clip your chalk blocks on it so you don’t have to use your hands. But, I personally feel that, unless you’re chalking your hair quite often, it’s pointless to pay money for something like that. So I just used my hands! All you do is just take your chalk, press it on to your wet hair, and run it slowly down the length of the strand. It helps if you do both sides of your hair. And that’s all! You can choose do this all over, just one streak, on one side, every other strand, whatever! The possibilities are endless. I just decided to do mine mainly on the ends of my hair.

Alright, now let’s get serious. I’m about to drop a bombshell on you: I hate hair chalk. I didn’t think I would, but I do. I hate it with every inch of my heart. You can’t tell by looking at this specific picture, but the hair chalk dries out your hair instantly. It was almost like my ends were completely fried. I couldn’t even run my fingers through it, let alone a brush, as the instructions tell you.

Plus, it did this to my hands. So not cool. Normally, hair chalk will wash off easily with soap and warm water, so I don’t know if it was just this Chi brand or what, but this stained my hands. Right now as we speak, my hands still look like this. It looks like I murdered a cartoon character.

Annnnnd, this is what it looks like after I dried it. I don’t know if ya’ll can see just how dry it is in this picture, but I sure can. If you’ll just scroll back up for a sec and notice in my wet hair picture and how I only did certain strands and just the ends of them…. yeah, after I finally manged to rip a brush through my straw-like hair, it completely moved the color around. I ended up with color clear up to the roots of my hair… not even CLOSE to where I had applied it. Brushing it (reminder: the instructions told me to do so) pretty much ruined the streaky look I had goin’ on. It just blended everything together until I looked like a 12 year old girl going through a rebellious phase. And, ladies, I’ve bleached my hair before and that turned my hair into a tangle-y, matted mess. Hair chalking pretty much gave me the exact same results as bleaching, so that’s pretty horrible.

Bless my mom’s heart though, she helped me attempt to get the color out of my hair (after laughing at me first. haha). We washed my hair in the kitchen sink, I kid you not, SEVEN times (and once with Dawn dish soap!) to try to get the color out. Luckily for me, most of it did fade. It’s still got a pink tint to it today and I have it pulled up in a ponytail to keep people at work from noticing my bad hair experiment, but it did fade somewhat. I think using the Dawn dish soap was my saving grace last night. We also applied a deep conditioning treatment and left it on for about 30 minutes, but my hair is still pretty dry and damaged this morning.

All in all, would I ever do this again? Maybe, further on down the line, I’ll experiment with a different brand of hair chalk because I do believe that most of the problems I encountered were probably because of that. But it’ll defiantly be a loooong time before I get the balls to put chalk to my hair again. I don’t wanna scare any of you away from doing hair chalking, that’s not my goal! This was just my personal experience. Something like this might work for a dance party, concert, etc, but just make sure you’re ready to give your damaged hair some serious TLC come morning time. And you’re probably better off just using a temporary hair dye instead of hair chalk. My best advice though? If you absolutely, 100%, completely wanna try this: please, just let a professional do it. It’s just easier that way. haha

As always, if ya’ll have an questions at all, leave me a comment down below. I hope you enjoyed my failed attempt at hair chalking and if any of you plan on doing it in the near future, I wish you the best of luck. haha I hope you get better results than what I got. Don’t forget to give me a follow for some other exciting posts that I’ve got comin’ up this week for ya, thanks for reading today, and I’ll talk to ya’ll later!

XOXO, Megan ❤

April Favorites! (:

Hey, everyone! Seriously, where has this month gone?? We’ve officially gotten to the last few days of April and you know what that means… an April Favorites blog post! Yay! I love doing monthly favorites because that’s when I get to gather up the products that I’ve been using almost daily and lovin’ all month long and I get to share them with you. Let’s get started!

Let me guess: you’re lovin‘ my professional photography, right? I’ve got this really awesome set up with my fluffy pink bath towels in the background. hahah Anyway, the first product I’ve been obsessed with this month is a new Biore face wash that I just recently picked up. This is the Biore Combination Skin Balancing Cleanser. I don’t have combination skin (I have really oily skin actually), but I’ve never found a Biore product that I didn’t absolutely love, so I wanted to give this a shot! And I’m so glad I did. This is just your basic gel/liquid face wash, so you can use it as many times a day as you want since it doesn’t have exfoliating beads or any harsh acne-fighting agents in it. This face wash is sooo moisturizing, it’s insane. After you use this, you’ll notice an instant difference in you skin. It gives you this really refreshing, clean feeling, plus it smells great! You can get this anywhere that sells face washes and it’s for less than $5 (:

Again with my beautiful photography skills, are we noticing a common theme here? haha This is my Redken Mousse Whip and it’s actually made specifically for people with who have blonde dyed hair or blonde highlights. Shake this well before you use it and then distribute the mousse evenly throughout your damp hair, concentrating on your ends, where it tends to be the most dry and damaged. Brush through and then blow dry and style as usual! It has a really clean smelling citrus sent to it that I really enjoy. What this awesome product does is conditions your hair, prevents damage, and brings out the blonde coloring. My hair is always silky, smooth, and shiny after using this! Be sure that you don’t use too much product though because I did that when I used it for the first time and left this really gross residue in my hair. But once you figure out how much product you need, this is a true hair saver! I got this at my salon for $16.

This is one of my all-time favorite foundations in the history of ever. This is the Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation and I’m head over heels in love (sorry, Cody!). Because of the mousse/whipped consistency, it can’t be put in a pump bottle, so Revlon has it in this little, clear jar instead. A lot of people tend to have a problem with that saying it takes up too much space, is hard to travel with, or whatever, but I actually love the jar! I think it’s cute and looks pretty sitting on my vanity. Plus, it’s really easy to tell when you need more. I have problem skin, I’m not afraid to be the first to admit that (check out my ‘Problem Skin to Flawless Skin’ post that I did back a few weeks ago!) and this foundation covers up all my marks and scars beautifully. It’s so easy to blend out, never looks cakey, and stays on my face all day without getting shinny, which is a big plus for me. This applies best with a beauty blender or brush and gives you this really flawless, perfect finish. I got this at Walmart for $11 and I’m already on my third jar! Forever obsessed.<3

This is a product that’s somewhat unfamiliar to a lot of people. This is Tea Tree Oil and it’s just the Walgreen’s brand, but they all come in a little, brown jar like this one. You’ll find it in the first-aid section. Tea Tree Oil is used for alotta things, but I’ve been using it as a spot treatment and toner. Now, let me just say something real quick, this stuff stinks. Like, it has a vomit-inducing stench. It’s actually pretty horrendous and almost unbearable. One drop is going to stink up your whole apartment/house and make it smell like you’ve been hiding the dead carcass of little Johnny next door for the past 5 months. It smells. Are we on the same page now? hahah I would never use this stuff again if it didn’t give me such amazing results. Your blemish will be gone (or drastically less noticeable) by morning. I swear it to you. Once I had cleared up all of the little breakouts I had (I can thank my period for that), I began using it as a toner. I pumped some of my Olay moisturizer in my palm, added 3 or 4 drops of the Tea Tree Oil, mixed together, and applied all over my face. I haven’t had a breakout since! I believe it was around $11 and this quickly became one of my holy grail products (:

hahahah Okay, you guys. I’m aware this isn’t a beauty product. But, world, meet Rixton. I’m HUGE when it comes to pop culture and music and I know a good band when I hear ’em. These guys are new on the music scene, but you’ve probably heard their first single ‘Me and My Broken Heart.’ They’re an awesome band, plus, I’m not even gonna lie to you, I find them quite attractive. haha Go check ’em out!

I hope ya’ll enjoyed my April Favorites and I hope you’ll go out and purchase some of these products for yourself! Then maybe you’ll become as obsessed with some of these as me! It was awesome talkin’ to ya for a little bit today and I’ll talk to you tomorrow!

XOXO, Megan (:

This or That!

Good Morning, Everyone! I’m gonna start off this post by telling you guys that I’m such an idiot. hahah Seriously. I did something to my wrist, but here’s the kicker: I have no idea what I did! It just started hurting last night and then gradually got worse and worse and worse. Right now, it’s actually pretty excruciating. I couldn’t sleep at all last night because I couldn’t find a way to lay without my wrist hurting. Wahhh. Someone hug me. haha I’ll give it another day or so and see how things go, but it looks like I’ll be hittin’ up the doctor here pretty soon. Hopefully nothing is seriously wrong, but I doubt I’ll be able to work if I’m in a brace or a cast. I already called my clients for the rest of this week to cancel because I could hardly get myself ready this morning, let alone someone else. So today, I just wanted to do something fun for ya’ll that wouldn’t require much typing on my part! So I decided to do a This or That blog post! I’m indecisive when it comes to beauty products (or just life in general… haha), so this should be fun!

Makeup Products…

Blush or Bronzer? I use both on the daily, but if I’m just laying around the house or going to Walmart or something, I just use foundation, concealer, and bronzer… so, bronzer!

Lip Gloss or Lipstick? Lipstick! I actually don’t own too many glosses.

Eye Liner or mascara? Oooh, that’s a toughie. I guess I’d have to say mascara though because then I could dip my angled eye brush into the tube and use that as eyeliner. haha

Foundation or Concealer? Concealer! No one needs to witness my dark circles… no one.

Neutral or Color Eye Shadow? I’m all about the neutrals, baby! 100%. They’re much more versatile.

Pressed or Loose Eye Shadow? Pressed, less messy!

Brushes or Sponges? I use a beauty blender, which I guess is a sponge, but I’ll have to go with brushes, just in general.

OPI or China Glaze? Can I pick Essie? haha I’ll say OPI

Long or Short? Short, I’m a nail bitter to the max

Acrylic or natural? Natural! It’s easier to play around with nail art that way

Brights or Darks? Brights, always (:

Flower or No Flower? Noooo flowers, I hate florals

Perfume or Body Splash? Is that sad that I have no idea what “body splash” is?

Lotion or Body Butter? Body butter just works so much better than lotion, I love the thick and creamy consistency. Plus, those cute, little jars they come in? Love! So pretty to sit out on your vanity

Body Wash or Soap? Confession: I’m a body wash hoarder. I have probably 10 or 11 different kinds. A little sad? Probably haha

Lush or Other Bath Company? Bath and Body Works, I’m in love with their scents

Jeans or Sweats? I’m a sweats kinda girl. All day, every day

Long Sleeve or Short? Long sleeves

Dresses or Skirts? Neither? haha Nahh, I’m just starting to get into the sundress kinda thing, so I’ll say dresses. But I actually hate dressing up. Like, hate dressing up

Stripes or Plaid? Plaid! I live in flannels

Flip flops or Sandles? Ya know those cheap flip flops Old Navy sells? I have a bajillion pairs

Scarves or Hats? Scarves! Got one on right now (:

Studs or Dangly Earrings? Fun Fact: I actually don’t have my ears pierced! I have a really horrible phobia of needles. No one likes needles and a lot of people fear them, but I have a straight up phobia of them. I’m the crazy person that screams, cries, throws up, and then passes out. Earrings aren’t worth it haha

Necklaces or Braclets? I’m not much a jewelry person. The only thing I wear every single day is a toe ring, a few hair ties around my wrist, and the promise ring I have from my boyfriend. But I’ll say necklaces, if I have to pick

Heels or Flats? Flats, 110%! My clumsy ass can’t walk in heels, are you kidding me? I own maybe two pairs and they’re just sitting in the back of my closet collecting dust. I’m much more of a Vans, Converse, Uggs, Flip Flops kinda chick

Cowboy Boots or Riding Boots? Riding boots! I’ve got my brown pair on right now!

Jacket or Hoodie? Hoodies, love ’em

Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe? You’re killin’ me, Smalls. These are both my two all-time FAVORITE stores! I guess if you held a gun up to my head and told me that you’d kill me if I didn’t choose, if I really, really, really, had to choose, I’d pick Charlotte Russe

Abercrombie or Hollister? Hollister! Have you read about the whole Abercrombie thing? The CEO doesn’t want girls who aren’t a size 0 or 1 to wear the clothes because he thinks they make them look bad. I don’t support bullies. Plus Hollister smells good. And who doesn’t enjoy shopping for clothes in the dark? haha

Saks 5th or Nordstrom? Girl, I don’t have the kinda money to spend on clothes that I can find at Charlotte Russe or Forever 21. Neither!

Curly or Straight? My hair is naturally curly. Not cute curly either. Like, lion’s mane curly. I much prefer straightening it every day, so straight!

Bun or Ponytail? Messy buns

Bobby Pins or Butterfly Clips? Bobby pins, even though they magically disappear at a rapid pace

Hair Spray or Gel? I never use either actually

Long or Short? Looong! Even though my hair is short naturally. I got a horrible hair cut a few months ago (the girl cut about 6 inches off without my consent), so I ordered extensions! I still have them, but my hair has grown out some, so I’m much more comfortable with it now. I still hate it though, don’t get me wrong. haha

Light or Dark? My hair is naturally a dark, chocolate brown, but I’ve had it blonde since about 9th grade. I’m thinking about going dark again though and I really envy girls with gorgeous, dark hair! Especially dark auburn, my favorite

Side Swept Bangs or Full Bangs? I used to have full on bangs! I still go back to them sometimes, I think they’re fun and edgy. But I’ll have to say side swept

Up or Down? Down!

Run or Shine? It’s funny, I’m actually happier when it’s cloudy. I loooove thunderstorms. Love them

Summer or Winter? I love both! Christmas is my favorite thing ever and I love snow, but I think I’ll have to pick summer just because everyone’s more laid back and relaxed

Fall or Spring? Spring… for the storms haha

Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate! I don’t like straight up chocolate (I actually hate straight up chocolate), but I like it on things. And chocolate covered strawberries… mmm. My fave ❤

East Coast or West Coast? I’m gonna have to say East! It’s my dream to visit New York City and I’m obsessed with cities. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, so I’m a city slicker!

Well, so much for not typing a lot, right? haha I hope ya’ll enjoyed reading this! I started my blog to be able to connect with people, so I hope you learned a little bit more about me and if you wanna do this too, be sure to let me know, so I can come check it out! Thanks for hanging out with me today, wish me luck with my wrist! Talk to ya’ll soon!

XOXO, Megan (:
